Brian Schilling: Day 3

Well Day 3 got off on the wrong foot…..I woke up several times during the night to toss n turn, but managed to sleep past my alarm, thanks to a cell phone I thought was plenty charged up but didn’t last the night. So I woke up at 6:30AM to the rude reality that I missed my training session. I felt horrible and went downstairs to call Shaun – the phone was busy, and I found out later, he was calling me at the same time I called him. Too funny.

So we agreed to reschedule the training for 1PM, after many mea culpas on my part. I knew that was not an ideal time for me, but I am committed to training, so I squeezed it in.

At 12:30, as I was getting ready to leave, Shaun called me up and said he was feeling pretty sick and needed to go home early. We agreed we would touch bases tomorrow to see if we could squeeze in a session. So, I went in anyways, since I had already mentally prepared myself and blocked out the time, to do another bike ride, and add in some weightlifting.

This time, I could feel the last couple of days catching up to me – I was much slower riding, and only logged 9 miles – not as good as yesterday, but the heart rate was definitely up there. At one point Dave came by and noticed me slowing down, and encouraged me to lower the level a bit to get more distance, which I did.

Afterwards, I experimented with some of the weight equipment – did some pulls, worked the triceps and the shoulders, and also used the weights to simulate pulling myself up a wall – the stomach muscles sure felt that!

3 days in, and the body is telling me it is sore…..but in a good way. I got an invite from my buddy to shoot some golf on Saturday at the range, so will be interesting to see how far I can hit the ball with muscles I have been working out! :)
